Old Mobiles Should Find Place in Recycling Firms

RIM Launches BlackBerry Handsets with MVS

Mobile phone recycling is the safest option to replace old handsets. Mobile manufacturer RIM (Research In Motion) updates its two new Blackberry handsets, BlackBerry Pearl and Storm devices with a Mobile Voice System (MVS.) The company has announced the latest BlackBerry MVS 5 that works with Cisco(R) Unified Communications Manager, allowing the users to access features of their desktop telephony systems ( VoIP) via Wi-Fi.

The update allows an user to use a single phone number shared between their desk phone and BlackBerry smartphone to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi connection. Alan Panezic, RIM vice president of platform product management said, "BlackBerry Mobile Voice System 5 effectively provides a wireless extension of the corporate phone system to allow voice over Wi-Fi calling at work, public hotspots and home. It presents a great opportunity for companies to enhance the productivity of employees who are often away from their desks or working from home, such as workers in construction, hospitality, sales and professional services."

Companies to Enhance the Productivity

The mobile phone will further allow the administrators to prioritise either Wi-Fi or mobile network calls for the employees. It even allows him to exercise control over Wi-Fi networks that an employee can access on his handset and also over the handsets that will be allowed to connect to the phone system.

Administrators can control which handsets can connect to the phone system and allow users to create incoming call filters. In addition to the Cisco platform, RIM said that it is working with telcos to extend the update to corporate MVS services. RIM's announcement of the new MVS system comes on the heels of new BlackBerry Pearl and Storm devices.
