Mobile Companies to Introduce their Own Mobile Application Services

[18-02-2010]

Companies to Build up Own Platform:

O2 and Orange join hands with several leading mobile manufacturing companies across the globe to build up their own platform and develop app-style games and other services. They intend to compete and beat the popularity and success achieved by the Apple’s “apps” available for the iPhone users. After losing ground to companies like Apple and Google, these mobile operators are looking to fight back and gain market share from Apple. They will now pull their resources and develop new technologies for networks enabling a string of services to be available on a wide range of handsets.

The mobile networks fear that in the current situation their existence is endangered by the fact that the revenues from the applications are either going to the software developers or the companies running the stores which supply applications. Other than the Apple’s apps stores and Google’s Android applications already earning huge profits from the application market, the mobile industry will now face stiff competition from outside the mobile world too.

Companies with Own Application Development:

A few more devices with a host of games and other applications are going to be introduced at this week's Mobile World Congress, the biggest trade show of mobile industry in Barcelona. Steve Ballmer announces Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 7 or Windows Phone with its new application stores. Other than Nokia which is already having its own app store Samsung and RIM, maker of the Blackberry, are soon to launch their own app development. In fact, applications are going to be the highlight of this year's Mobile World Congress in which several companies will announce their own app stores. Orange, O2, T-Mobile and few other operators are already signed up to the GSMA plan.

Omnifone, the UK’s digital music group is to announce its plan to launch an unlimited download or streaming music service on Android devices. Skype too announces that it has created a version of its popular free internet telephony service for Nokia's Symbian operating system. To save the environment from e-wastes, mobile phone recycling is the utmost important and you can sell mobile through portal service.
